Instructions for setting up abp version 5.22 (ER6 version)
==========================================================

Note: this version runs ER6 Crystal computer such as the
Nokia 9210. It does not run under Epoc Release 5.

Important: before using ABP, you must install the OPL runtime environment
which is available from http://www.symbiandevnet.com/. This runtime
environment has some known bugs. I have coded around most of them, but
a few issues remain. The most relevant issues are:

* The file selector dialog has a "ghost" cursor, which makes it somewhat
confusing to use. However, files can still be selected correctly.
* The standard OPL import and export routines for text files do not
work properly. I have coded around this, but importing and exporting
will be slower than on ER5 computers.
* The text in some dialogs is too large for the screen. In this case,
you will see part of the text, followed by "...". However upgraders
from the ER5 version of ABP should recognise the dialogs.
* Only English & Dutch versions are available at present.

Because of the limitations above, this version of ABP should be considered
a beta release.

NOKIA & SYMBIAN ARE CURRENTLY EVALUATING THE INTEREST IN OPL FOR EPOC
RELEASE 6. IF YOU WANT TO SEE HIGH QUALITY OPL APPLICATIONS, THEN
MAKE YOUR VIEWS KNOWN TO BOTH FIRMS!!!

The file abp522er6.zip should include the following files:

1. abp5.sis (installation file)
2. changes.txt (recent changes to abp)
3. sample5.abp (an example abp data file using investments)
4. sample5.txt (instructions for sample.abp)
5. readmeER6.txt (this file)
6. abpinvestments (an Epoc Word file with info about new investment functions)
7. abpInternetImport (an Epoc Word file with info about importing QIF/OFC/OFX
files
   from the Internet)
8. er6abptotmp.opo (converts ABP data files to temporary files, see below)
9. er5abptotmp.opo (ER5 version of conversion program, see below)

There may be some additional explanatory files for non-English users

When you have unzipped to your PC, then double-clicking on the sis file will
start the
standard EPOC Install process. Alternatively, copy the file abp5.sis
to your Nokia, highlight it in File Manager, and press Enter.

On your Nokia, you should create a directory c:\abp which is the default
location for abp data files. Don't copy any of the above files into this
directory - abp will automatically place your data file there once
you run the program.

Once you have completed the abp installation procedure, you
will see a new icon (called ABP5) in the Extras section.

For features of abp and instructions, please take a few minutes to
read the help file (press CTRL+SHIFT+H from within ABP)

Note for upgraders from ABP for Epoc Release 5
==============================================

I have provided a conversion program to convert your ER5 ABP data to
ER6 ABP data. The program is provided in two versions: ER5 and ER6.
Instructions are as follows:

1. Copy er5abptotmp.opo to your ER5 computer in any directory.
2. Run the program and follow instructions to create a temporary
intermediate file.
3. Copy the intermediate file to your PC and then to your Nokia 9210.
Take care to do straight copies with no conversions.
4. Copy er6abptotmp.opo to your Nokia 9210 in any directory.
5. Within File Manager, highlight the program and press Enter
6. Follow instructions to convert the intermediate file to an
ER6 ABP data file.

The above process will take a while but, when completed, all your
ABP data and preferences should be recreated on the Nokia 9210.

Once done, you can run ABP from the Extras group, or highlight your
ABP data file in File Manager and press Enter to launch the program.

Enjoy abp - the freeware banking and investment management program! Let me
know
if you like it.
